 WingNutz

WingNutz is a 4-way Sequential Formation Skydiving Team based in the UK.

We formed in late 2005, and trained both individually - and as a team - in the newly opened Bedford Bodyflight skydiving wind-tunnel.

The team has travelled to Skydive Arizona twice (February 2006 and May 2007) to train with multiple-times world champion Mark Kirkby of Arizona Airspeed. We have also had a training camp at Target Skysports at Hibaldstow (again with Mark, August 2007), and have extensively used the Bedford Bodyflight skydiving wind tunnel through out the year.

In 2006 the original line-up (Vince Lam, Darren Atter, Jason Kierman, Andy Blevin and Tom Hartland) entered most of the regional 4-way competitions in the UK in the A-class. We won 2 gold medals and 1 bronze medal, and a siver medal for the series - using Elaine Curtis as an alternate Tail while Andy was studying for important exams.

But our greatest achievements of 2006 were winning the A-class in both the British National Skydiving Championships and the European Skydiving League Finals.

Unfortunately Andy Blevin left the team at the end of the 2006 season and his place was filled by Chris Hollis.

In 2007 the new line-up moved up to the AA-class, and quickly started to show what the team was capable of. After winning gold at each of the regional competitions we entered - and therefore also winning the series - the team moved on to the British Nationals and European Skydiving League Finals.

For the 2nd year running, WingNutz are British and European skydiving Champions.

About 4-way

4-way Sequential Formation Skydiving consists of four people jumping from a plane and performing a set of predefined set moves as many times as possible in 35 seconds, while falling at 120mph.

At the same time, a camera-flyer (who has at least one video camera attached to a special helmet) follows the group to provide evidence of the jump to the judges.
